I'm a graduate student at the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology, University of the Philippines Diliman (UP-IESM). My research lies at the intersection of computational hydrology and fluvial geomorphology, with a focus on quantifying uncertainties in hydrometric observations and predictions of hydrological extremes, such as floods and droughts. I have worked as a research associate at UP-IESM, investigating physical controls on catchment behavior using Bayesian statistics and rainfall–runoff models. I'm currently interested in exploring (i) the limits to which monitoring and modeling, as socio-technical enterprises, mediate hydrological knowledge production under data poverty and (ii) the extent to which the modeler’s epistemic commitments inform what is assumed or known, represented or excluded.
Outside of the geosciences, I'm drawn to questions of climate justice, development and the environment, and the water science–policy interface in the Global South. These research interests have also guided my collaborations with international nonprofits and global union federations, particularly on just transition and climate education campaigns. I approach this work using mixed methods, including surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and inductive thematic analysis. Where possible, I always strive to center marginalized perspectives and build solidarities across academic and civil society spaces.
